Organizations need to decide what they wish to accomplish. A marketing plan is needed to set forth clear expectations for the next year as well a benchmarks of progress and criteria for acceptable performance in ensuing years.
It begins by setting forth your vision, i.e., where you want to go; proceeds to your statement of mission, i.e., how you're going to get there; and continues with your crafting of position, i.e., what most sets you apart to drive customers to you.
To be useful, your marketing plan must identify overall goals and objectives, outline specific strategies and tactics, specify dates for completion and deadlines for implementing individual projects and comprehensive programs.
